How to Clean the Outside of Kids’ Wellies
When cleaning, start with the exterior where mud accumulates. Use a medium-bristle brush to scrub off all dried mud, including what’s stuck in the treads.
Soak a cloth in warm water and wipe down the whole boot, starting at the top and working downwards so you don’t spread dirt from dirtier areas to cleaner ones. Mix one teaspoon of washing-up liquid with one litre of water and repeat the process, leaving the sole untouched. Then use a toothbrush dipped in the soapy solution to scrub the bottom of the soles.
Finally, use a damp cloth and plain water to wipe the boot downwards and remove any soap residue — this should also take care of the white film known as blooming. If it doesn’t, a silicone spray or commercial boot cleaner can help restore the boot’s original appearance. Rinse the soles thoroughly after using vinegar, sprays, or detergent to avoid slipping on wet surfaces later.

How to Clean the Inside of Wellies
Mix a mild liquid soap in warm water, soak a cloth in the solution, and run it all over the interior. Repeat with plain water and allow the boots to air-dry completely before wearing.
To tackle odours, mix equal parts warm water and white vinegar and wipe down the inside. You can also add three tablespoons of bicarbonate of soda, shake the boot to coat the interior, and leave it overnight — just make sure to air out the boot before it’s worn again!
