What to Wear to a Music Festival

What to Wear to a Music Festival

We all know what that search is like for the perfect festival outfit. You want to be comfy but cool, not too hot but not cold, thoughtful but also effortless. We get it. And we know that sometimes, it can feel a little daunting.

Finding what to wear to a music festival is our chance to be festive and showcase our sense of style. But at the same time, we know we’re going to be on our feet all day, dancing the night away, and exploring the many activities the grounds have to offer. Most importantly, we want to be prepared for different weather conditions. Will it be hot and sunny? What if the temperature drops and it rains?

Here are five merry tips that are a great starting point if you’re wondering what to wear to your next music festival.

1. Super comfy shoes
There is nothing worse than wearing uncomfortable shoes at a festival. Chances are that you will be walking a lot and on your feet for most of the day (and night!). Our tip? Avoid wearing anything with a heel or wedge! You probably know what we’re going to say. Yep, that’s right! Wellies are the best for keeping your feet warm, dry, comfortable and cute, all day long. Plus, you’ll be prepared for anything Mother Nature throws at you because they’re 100% waterproof, taking you from morning to night, rain, hail or shine!

2. Opt for a hat over a flower crown
Whether it's sunny or grey and overcast, you don't want to forget a hat! It's the perfect way to protect your skin and avoid squinting all day. The more coverage, the better! But what hat to pick you ask? There's no shortage of options, from a baseball cap, Panama, Fedora to an oh so cute Bucket hat, there's an option for everyone!

3. It’s all about the layers
We love when it's warm and sunny during the day, but often the temperature drops as the sun goes down and we dance into the night. You may be toasty warm (and a little sweaty) if you’re in the middle of the crowd, but it can get chilly if you stay at the back or when you leave.

That’s why we love layers! Carrying something you can tie around your waist during the day and use as an upper body layer at night. We love flannel shirts and denim jackets. If you’re wondering what to wear to a winter music festival, more is key! Stick to long sleeves, fleeces, and heavier jackets.

4. Bring a bandana
A bandana is a versatile festival accessory. It can protect us from sand and dust when it (often) gets too windy and it also helps to protect our neck and ears from the sun, especially if we opt to wear a baseball cap instead of a wide-brimmed hat.

5. Don't forget your bag
The perfect finishing touch to a festival outfit! And an oh-so practical one. We love to choose one that can fit all of our festival essentials— water, a wallet, an extra layer and sunscreen. Crossbody bags are the perfect option for everyone, they look cute and are a great small bag. A tote bag also works well and can fit a lot in!

While being stylish from head to toe plays a factor in what you might choose to wear to a music festival, comfortable and protective pieces are just as important!
Don’t sacrifice comfort for style, particularly when it comes to your choice of footwear.
