Welcome to "Stories of Merry People", where we chat with creatives, artists and makers about their lives of adventure and merriness.
Up next in our series, meet Elizabeth Tyler; landscape designer, soon-to-be mum, and founder of her own design studio working nature's magic in and around the Salisbury Plains. Elizabeth sat down with us to share what she loves about landscape design, how she wears with her Chocolate Brown Bobbi Boots, and what makes her merry!
It's so great to have you on the Stories of Merry People series! Can you tell us a little bit about yourself, and what you do?
I’m landscape designer and I run a design practice based near my home in Wiltshire. We create gardens and landscapes across the UK at a range of scales and for a range of lovely clients.
Let's talk what merriness means for you, in work and play! For us, it's dancing in the rain and splashing carefree in puddles. What does it mean to you?
Spending time with friends, laughing and eating good food and not taking life too seriously. That or walking somewhere beautiful with my dogs and my husband.
How do you slow down and switch off?
Walking, pottering around in my garden in the sun or playing the piano.
What's your style motto?
I don’t know if I have a motto but generally what I wear must be fairly practical, either because of work or just living in the countryside, but I like to have fun with colours, combinations and vintage clothes. I wear boots a lot and my Bobbi Boots have been bringing me joy on morning walks as I brush through the dew without getting soggy socks.

What's coming up for you this year?
Well, I’m having a baby in July so that’s super exciting! I’m also looking forward to seeing my team grow and deliver some beautiful projects. Garden projects take a long time to ‘complete’, we’re never really done which is actually just beautiful and exciting.
When you’re not bringing a gorgeous landscape to life, where do you love to explore in your area?
We live in the middle of Salisbury Plain and it’s a truly special and awe-inspiring place. In the summer it is covered in wildflowers, and we take regular walks and picnics up there. I feel extremely lucky to have access to this amazing place.
